This electric MTB from the German brand is one of the most aggressive models that Haibike manufactures . The frame is fully carbon, both the triangle part and the swingarm, and it has a geometry designed for all those who like to go down trails and do more complicated paths. In addition, as is the custom of many brands, on their most powerful mountain ebikes, they mount different wheel sizes, a 29” wheel in front and a 27.5” Plus wheel in the rear. This serves to have greater manageability of the electric bike and more traction.
Another part to highlight about this Haibike is that it is equipped with a Yamaha motor and battery. It is the first review that we do with this engine so we are going to tell you well. The motor it carries is the PW-X2 with 80Nm of power and a 600Wh battery . In terms of performance and reliability, it is at the same level as the Bosch motor, we have been working with them for more than 10 years. It is true that both this motor and the battery have a little less power and autonomy, but there is very little difference that is practically not noticeable.
As for the Display, Yamaha has been using the same display for years, and it works very well and is very intuitive. In this case we have 5 levels of help , the one that transmits the most power, which is ExtraPower, is only available in this engine, and it gives the maximum power of 80Nm . It also tells you all the necessary information, such as battery level, km/h, en route and total kilometers, range, and has a walk assist mode.
In terms of components, this entire electric mountain bike comes very well equipped. First we talk about the suspensions. Both the fork and the shock are from the RockShox brand, both with air and 160mm of travel. As we have already told you, the philosophy of this e-bike is hardcore and aggressive . They are air suspensions with which you can regulate them and put them to your liking according to the type of route you do.
In the rest of the components you will not miss anything. It has a 12-speed Sram development , this added to the power of the engine means that you can go up any ramp. Some four-piston TPR brakes, both front and rear, these brakes are something unusual to put on, the brands usually use Shimano or Sram, but they are brakes that we know well and that give very good results. Then something that cannot be missing in a mountain e-bike is the dropper post that is equipped as standard and is manufactured by the same German brand.
